Plaid: A classic pattern with a modern twist
Imaxtree / Marc

We miss the warm summer sun, but luckily, we’ve found solace in the ability to dress ourselves in the perfect autumnal shades and fashions.

Shirts, jackets, pants, dresses–it’s just all about plaid this fall. The autumnal pattern is all over the place this year. Marc Jacobs, Ralph Lauren and Balmain are a few designers who’ve hopped on the plaid bandwagon. This isn’t the first time we’ve seen this cross-hatched pattern, but it is the first time we’ve seen it so fabulous! Plaid doesn’t have to be boring or frumpy. In fact, this year it’s anything but. It’s colourful and bright and it works just as well for pants as it does for tops, shirts and skirts! Taking its cue from the British countryside and this season’s grunge chic style, plaid is back with a whole new twist. Opt for one single piece to add to your wardrobe. Be it a coat, bottom, top or even a scarf, plaid is perfect almost everywhere you go. There’s no question about it being appropriate for the workplace, but now, if you select the right kind, it can be suitable for a night out on the town or a weekend at the cottage, as well.
