1929-2009 a.k.a. Recession-chic
The economic crisis has actually inspired designers this year. The recession has brought back styles from both ends of the fashion spectrum. On one end, we have fringed dresses and a boyish attitude that shows off the knees by Jill Sanders and Just Cavalli. On the other end, we have tattered Burberry fabrics and shirts that button up to the neck from Bottega Veneta and Marc Jacobs. During rough economic times, fashion wants to protect itself so you’ll see lots of layering and prints from designers like Marni, as well. Almost anything goes!
